Whalers CC lost by 6
runs
A close game saw Whalers
just fail to clinch an unlikely looking victory. Set a target of 244 off 40 overs a quick start was needed and at 58-1 after 10 overs it had been achieved. Then came the very popular
Whalers middle order collapse and we were soon 90 odd for 7. Superb knocks from
Khalil (65) and Paul (46) bought us right back into
the game and when Paul was out we needed 32 off 3.5 overs
with the last wicket pair at the crease. Despite some chaotic running and some
cross batted hoicks the last pair couldn’t quite see us over the line and we
fell 5 runs short.
Whalers: 237 for 9 (40.0 ovs)
Akademicals: 243 for 8 (40.0 ovs)
Man of the match: Khalil Ahmed (3-35 and 65)
Champagne moment: Paul’s
aesthetically pleasing lofted off drive
Muppet moment:
Channa fielding a fierce drive with his shin bone, girly
scream, attempting run-out after being berated by team, run-out missed followed
by further writhing around in agony, then continually showing off bruise
