Abandoned - Rain
A most
unsatisfactory abandonment. A gloriously sunny June day, but torrential overnight rain
meant that the ground-staff deemed the pitch unplayable. Most present deemed
that the wicket would have been ok after about 3pm, but our protestations fell
on unreceptive ears. All the more disappointing as we seemed to be the only
team playing that day whom the ground-staff hadn’t
contacted in advance, meaning many playing (including some of the oppo travelling from
